Indian equity markets staged a strong rebound on Monday, with the BSE Sensex surging over 400 points and the Nifty50 inching closer to the 23,400 mark, as a sharp cool-down in global crude oil prices provided relief to investors despite ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. The rally was broad-based, with banking, auto, and energy stocks leading the charge. Analysts say the dip in oil prices has eased concerns over India's import bill and inflationary pressures, prompting a fresh wave of buying in cyclical sectors.

The Sensex ended the session at a robust level, gaining 400 points, while the Nifty50 settled just shy of 23,400. Market breadth remained positive, with advances outpacing declines. The volatility index, India VIX, cooled off, indicating reduced nervousness among traders. According to analysts, the primary trigger for the upmove was the decline in Brent crude prices, which fell below key levels as supply disruption fears receded. Lower crude prices are a boon for India, which imports over 80% of its oil requirements, as they help narrow the current account deficit and keep retail inflation in check.

"The cooling of oil prices despite Middle East tensions has given the market a reason to cheer. Lower crude directly benefits India's macroeconomic stability and corporate margins," analysts say.

Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) turned net buyers in the cash segment, providing additional support. Domestic institutional investors (DIIs) also remained active, absorbing any profit-booking. The rupee strengthened marginally against the dollar, further boosting sentiment. Sector-wise, the Nifty Bank index gained the most, followed by auto and realty. IT stocks lagged slightly as the rupee's appreciation raised concerns over export competitiveness.

Looking ahead, analysts say the market will take cues from global oil trends, US bond yields, and the upcoming earnings season. While Middle East tensions remain a risk, the current cool-off in crude has provided a cushion. Investors are advised to focus on quality large-caps and avoid leveraged positions. The Nifty's ability to sustain above 23,400 will be crucial for the next leg of the rally. With oil prices cooling, the near-term outlook appears cautiously optimistic.
